Convert PNG to JPG online, free

A photograph saved as a PNG is almost always far larger than it needs to be. PNG stores every pixel exactly, which is the right choice for a logo or a screenshot and the wrong one for a photo — and it is why a picture that arrives as a PNG can be many times the size of the same picture as a JPG with no visible difference. Converting to JPG is usually the single fastest way to make an image small enough to email, upload, or put on a page.

Choosing a quality level

Three levels cover the decision without making you guess at a number. Best quality stays as close to the source as JPEG allows, for archiving or anything headed to print. Recommended is the default and shows no visible loss on a normal photograph — it is the right answer unless you have a reason to move. Smallest file trades a little sharpness for the smallest result, which is what you want for email attachments and web pages where every kilobyte counts.

What happens to transparency

This is the one real catch, and it is worth understanding before you convert. JPEG has no alpha channel at all — the format simply cannot store a transparent pixel. Transparent areas in your PNG are filled with white here. That matters most for logos, stickers, and screenshots with rounded corners: if the design assumed a transparent background, the JPG will show white where the background used to be. If you need the transparency to survive, JPG is the wrong destination and there is a better one below.

Colours that stay consistent

The colour profile in your PNG is kept by default rather than discarded, so the JPG looks like the file you uploaded instead of drifting. If the image is going on the web, switch to Convert to sRGB and it will render the same way in every browser rather than depending on how each one interprets an unfamiliar profile.

Converting a folder at a time

Upload up to 100 PNGs at once from your device, Google Drive, or a direct URL. Original filenames are kept so a batch comes back organised. Files are deleted from the servers within an hour, and you can delete any of them yourself immediately.

What you get

  • A dramatically smaller file than the PNG you uploaded
  • Three clear quality levels instead of an arbitrary number
  • Transparent areas filled with white rather than turned black or rejected
  • Your colour profile kept, or converted cleanly to sRGB for the web
  • Up to 100 files per batch with original filenames preserved
  • No account, no watermark, and files deleted within an hour

What's next?

If the transparency mattered after all, Convert PNG to WebP shrinks the file while keeping the alpha channel intact. Need to go back the other way for a lossless master? Convert JPG to PNG does that. And if the JPG is still larger than you need, Compress JPG takes it down further without changing format.

Questions fréquentes

For a photograph, dramatically smaller — PNG was never built for photos, and JPEG is. The exact drop depends on the image and the level you pick, with Smallest file giving the biggest reduction and Best quality the smallest.

They are filled with white. JPEG has no alpha channel, so transparency cannot be carried across in any form. That is better than the common alternatives — some converters error out on a transparent PNG, others silently paste it onto black — but if the transparency is load-bearing, convert to WebP instead.

Recommended, unless you have a reason not to. It shows no visible loss on a normal photograph. Move to Best quality for archiving or print, and to Smallest file when the image is going in an email or on a page where size matters more than the last few percent of sharpness.

It works, but JPEG's compression is built for photographs and shows more artifacting around sharp edges and flat blocks of colour. Text and hard edges stay cleaner at the Best quality level. For that kind of image, WebP or keeping the PNG is usually the better answer.

No. The colour profile is preserved by default, so the JPG matches the PNG you uploaded. Choose Convert to sRGB if the image is headed for the web and you want it identical in every browser.

Yes, up to 100 images per batch, from your device, Google Drive, or a direct URL, and your original filenames are kept.
