Convert JFIF to PDF — and stop fighting that file extension

You saved an image, and it arrived as a .jfif file. Double-click it and Windows may shrug. Attach it and the other person asks what it is. Upload it somewhere and the site rejects it. Nothing is wrong with the file: JFIF is a JPEG — the same picture, the same data, wearing an extension some browsers still use and much software never learned to expect.

Converting it to a PDF makes the problem go away for good. A PDF opens everywhere, attaches to anything, and never needs explaining.

The picture itself is not touched

Because a JFIF is already a JPEG, there is no reason to re-encode it, and this converter does not. The image is placed in the PDF byte for byte — identical to the file you uploaded. Converters that decode and re-save it add a round of compression for no benefit at all.

Rotate, order, and choose the shape

Turn any image in quarter steps before converting — losslessly, so rotating costs nothing. Drag your files into the order you want. Keep them as one PDF or as separate files, on paper sizes from A5 to Tabloid, or on pages shaped to the images themselves.

Mixed folders are fine

If your folder is a mix of .jfif, .jpg and .png, add all of them. Each file is identified by what it actually contains rather than by its extension, so nothing is rejected for being named unexpectedly — and nothing is misread either.

Nothing to install, nothing to sign up for

The conversion runs in your browser, so it works the same on Windows, macOS and a phone. There is no account, no watermark and no email step, and files are removed from the server within the hour.

What you get

  • Original JFIF embedded byte for byte — no second round of compression
  • Lossless rotation in quarter steps
  • Up to 100 files in one document, in your chosen order
  • Mixed .jfif, .jpg, .png and .heic folders handled correctly
  • Page size shaped to the image, or A5 through Tabloid
  • Free, with nothing stored for longer than an hour

What's next?

Need an image file rather than a document? A JFIF is already a JPEG, so renaming is often enough — but if the file is simply too large, Compress JFIF will shrink it without changing the format. Converting photos instead? JPG to PDF handles those, and Compress PDF will trim the finished document if it comes out heavier than you need.

Preguntas frecuentes

JFIF is a JPEG image — the same format, saved with a different extension. Some browsers and email clients write .jfif instead of .jpg, which confuses software that only recognises the more common name, even though the file itself is perfectly ordinary.

Essentially yes, because they are the same format underneath. The picture is embedded in the PDF as the identical file, with no re-compression, so nothing is lost in the move.

No. Since a JFIF is already a JPEG, there is nothing to gain by re-encoding it and this converter does not. The bytes in the PDF are the bytes you uploaded.

Yes — up to 100 files, combined into one PDF in the order you arrange them, or kept as separate PDFs in a single download.

Yes. Every file is identified by its actual content rather than its extension, so a mixed folder converts correctly — including files saved with the wrong name entirely.

You can, and it usually works, but it does not help when a site or an app rejects the file for other reasons. A PDF is accepted everywhere and looks the same on every device, which is the more permanent fix.
